The ceiling at the destination was reported at 8000 feet. Upon arriving at field visibility had lowered to 1500 yards due to haze layer, patches of fog, and approaching darkness. At least one attempt to land was made and the pilot was informed to circle the field until another aircraft could be landed. This was the last contact between VHF/DF station and the pilot. It is believed the pilot, trying to make a turn to keep sight of the field, dug his left wing into the ground; causing the airplane to crash and explose. |
